Address:Page, Arizona
Our Tourist Attractions Expert Says:
Page, AZ was created in the middle of the last century for the workers building the Glen Canyon Dam. The dam is working just fine and is now holding back the Colorado River, forming Lake Powel, part of the the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. That leaves Page, AZ with the responsibility of acting as a host to the more than one million annual visitors to Glen Canyon and Lake Powell, the main places to see in Page, Arizona. There are plenty of lodging and touristy restaurants as well as good camping facilities. Make no mistake about it – Page, AZ caters to tourists, even though the few thousand people who live there probably enjoy some of the best fishing around. Page is built on a mesa and there is a rim trail within city limits that circles the mesa. Bicycles are allowed as well. We think it is pretty cool that the airport is on top of the mesa, as well
There is a wide choice of places to visit in Page, Arizona that are outside the city limits. Horseshoe Bend is probably one of the most photogenic spots in the area and is just a few miles south of Page. The hike to the viewpoint is less than a mile and is suitable for families. Enjoy the amazing view of the Colorado River doing a 300 degree twist around a nice chunk of multi-colored desert sandstone. Upper Antelope Canyon is just a few miles to the east of Page. The slot canyon provides a unique experience as the sunlight enters the canyon in the form of beams of light. This phenomenon happens during the summer and only at certain times of the day.
