Approximately 1,237,000 acres wide, Prescott National Forest lies in a mountainous section of central Arizona and is filled with natural diversity and opportunity for recreation. With vegetation that includes chaparral, juniper and Ponderosa pine, this forest is brimming with scenic attractions which include Thumb Butte, Mingus Mountain, Granite Mountain and the Verde River. Visitors can enjoy these attractions on scenic drives on one of a number of roads and enjoy nearly 450 miles of trails for hiking, backpacking, horseback riding or mountain biking.

Prescott National Forest is home to a National Historic Study trail called General Crook Trail which will keep history buffs entertained, and for the more daring, why not go hang gliding, rock climbing, bouldering, whitewater rafting or mountain biking. Those who want to spend the night here can enjoy over 12 campgrounds and 7 picnic areas. The Prescott National Forest is located about 70 air miles northwest of Phoenix.
