Things to do / Travel Guide

The prime time for visiting this region is in the spring or fall, when the skies are sunny, the air is dry, and it isn't too hot. These seasons feature the perfect conditions for river rafters, though the rafting is good anytime from April-October. These are also the best times to get good views of the Grand Canyon, where you can also often see rainbows during the summer thunderstorms.

The weather in northern Arizona varies greatly from season to season. Winters typically feature snowy, cloudy, and icy weather. Springs and falls are sunny, mild, and relatively dry. Summers are sunny and hot, with boiling temperatures at lower elevations.
Afternoon lightning and thunderstorms are known to be common in the summers.
