One of the most well preserved 19th-century forts in the country, Fort Clinch is 1,100 acres of sand dunes, plains and tidal marsh. The park's pristine beaches are perfect for sunbathing and swimming, as well as collecting shells and even shark teeth. The six-mile hiking trail winds through forest and ancient dunes where bird life as well as alligators and deer are often spotted. The Park has full facility camping, paved roads for bicycling and the Amelia River is a popular spot for fishing. If seeking a more relaxing vacation, why not enjoy a picnic by the relic dunes and oak trees and take in all the history and beauty of Fort Clinch State Park.

Now is the perfect time to experience some of the finest camping Florida has to offer. Whether hiking in the deep woods of our Maritime Hammock or on pristine Atlantic beaches, you're sure to enjoy a natural experience like no other. Of course, our renowned Living History programs are available every day at Historic Fort Clinch. Fishing enthusiasts will find excellent opportunities throughout the park whether fishing off the ½-mile pier or surfcasting. If you enjoy birding, many varieties of shorebirds can be seen throughout the Spring and Summer, including Wilson's plover, American oystercatcher, Least terns and Sanderlings. The park's Great Florida Birding Trail Pavilion is an excellent location to view various species of perching birds such as the Painted bunting, Summer tanager, Yellow-throated warbler, and Northern parula.
