Our Beach Bum Says:

Take a vacation to a real beach lover's beach, where the sun shines 320 days out of the year! With average water and air temperatures in the 70s, plus 27 miles of snow white beaches and the emerald-green waters of the Gulf of Mexico, it doesn't get much better than this. Whether you're visiting with the family, or you're a jet-skier, a para-sailer, a diver, or an international traveler, you'll find fulfillment in what the Travel Channel, Southern Living Magazine, and Dr. Beach have all called a top US beach destination. Interestingly, the sparkling and soft sand at Panama City Beach is actually quartz crystal, which has been broken down, bleached, and polished on the shoreline over time.

Naturally, daytime at the beach is brimming with activity on the white sand, as well as in the surf and sea. Choose from volleyball and Frisbee on the beach, jet skiing, boating, and windsurfing on the water, or scuba diving and snorkeling in the company of bottle-nosed dolphins and manta-rays underwater. Nature enthusiasts will appreciate St. Andrews State Park, with its 1,260-acres of thick forest, sand dunes, and fresh and saltwater marshes. There is also a lagoon swimming area, hiking trails, and two campgrounds at St Andrews. Thrill the kids with a ferry ride to Shell Island, a barrier island just across from the mainland which is perfect for shell-collecting. If you need even more action, check out the amusement parks, the zoo, the racetrack, or the miniature golf courses. Head back to the beach at the end of the day though, for breathtaking Gulf Coast sunsets over the radiant emerald water.

Note that the spring season here at Panama City Beach brings spring breakers from all over the country in numbers that often outstrip all the other spring break destinations, so you may want to book your getaway for the summer (high season) or the winter months, when Americans from the northern U.S., as well as Canadians, or Snowbirds, flock to this incredible location.
