Do not pass anywhere near Daytona Beach without checking out what some call "The Worlds Most Famous Beach". Its unique feature is the 18 mile stretch open to daytime vehicular traffic.
The beach is 23 miles long and up to 500 feet wide and supports just about every popular beach activity with the full range of facilities including lifeguards, restrooms, shopping and dining. The beach is lined with hotels and rental condominiums, many reasonably priced except during major events.
The area closest to the Boardwalk and the Main Street Pier is busiest while the area near Seabreeze Boulevard is popular for dining, nightlife and shopping. Drive north towards Oromond or south towards Daytona Beach Shores for quieter spots. Furthest to the south, Ponce Inlet offers one of the quietest spots in the area.
