Our Beach Bum Says:

Atlantic Beach is a cozy little spot - just one mile long of glowing sand and perfect, year-round warm weather. It's located in the beachfront town of Atlantic beach in the northeast of Florida, just a hop skip and a jump from Jacksonville. It is a favorite patch of beach among Jacksonville surfers for its blue water and intense waves, and makes for a lovely little getaway when you need a break.

Atlantic Beach, in conjunction with Jacksonville, began work on the Dutton Island Preserve in 1998. This gorgeous 27 acre island is replete with docks for canoes and kayaks, numerous trails for hiking, and a pier that's great for fishing, soaking up the beauty of the surroundings, and watching the sun set with someone you adore.

Atlantic Beach's town center is a charming place to stay, and has shops, good eateries, and fun night spots. And if you're looking for a more active scene, it's just east of Jacksonville and all it's great restaurants, bars and nightclubs.

Visitors to this little beach come for its laid back charm and flat white sand, which is great for taking a romantic sunset stroll on and soaking up the natural beauty of the surroundings. With its clean, beautiful ocean water, it's a pleasure to take a dip here most of the year. There are lifeguards around from 8am to 6pm in season, which runs from November through April.

Atlantic Beach is laid back, with action just minutes away for those who want it. But most importantly, it's a place to come to relax and enjoy the simple pleasures that come with a lazy day at the beach.
