You'll find most types of animal attractions in this charming region, be it an alligator farm, dolphin center, or zoological garden.
Daytona Beach
Just southwest of Daytona Beach, near Lake Monroe, sits the Florida Zoological Park and Botanical Garden, where you can catch a ride on the Safari Line train for an up-close, fun-filled excursion through 30 acres of free-roaming animals in their natural habitat. You'll have the chance to see over 700 exotic animals in all, including tigers, lions, and lowland gorillas.
St. Augustine
The St. Augustine Alligator Farm is right up in the northeast corner of Florida. In addition to over 2,700 alligators and crocodiles, you'll see rare and exotic birds like South American toucans, Australian kookaburras, and African turacos. Feeding time is a scream, and fortunately it comes every hour of every day.
Alternatively, but just as fun, is Marineland - Dolphin Conservation Center, where you can have hands-on interactions with the dolphins and even work with these water-loving mammals in their own habitat.
Jacksonville
Water isn't your thing? Not to worry, the Jacksonville Zoological Gardens provides 73 acres of botanical gardens, exhibits, and carousel rides for you to walk or ride through. You can also see jaguars, lions, birds, snakes, and reptiles at this wonderful animal habitat.
Emerald Coast
Out near the western edge of the Florida panhandle, by Panama City, is ZooWorld Zoological & Botanical Garden. Orangutans, lions, tigers, and leopards are among the animals you'll see at this lush zoo and botanical garden. Throughout the park you'll come across over 250 species of plants and trees, many native to the area.
Finally, there's Gulf World Marine Park. Among the special programs available at this amazing aquarium are swimming with the dolphins, spending a day watching and working with an animal trainer, having an overnight adventure, or just having a plain old (extra special!) birthday party.
