Our History Buff Says:

At 102 stories high, the Empire State Building has been the symbol of the New York skyline for over 75 years. Follow in the footsteps of Meg Ryan and King Kong Located on Fifth Avenue and 34th Street, this limestone art-deco classic was built in just 410 days back in 1931. An elevator will beam you up to the top where you can look out on the Big Apple from the 86th floor outdoor observatory, open from morning till midnight. There is also another indoor observatory on the 102nd floor, but it usually closed.

Advanced tourists will arrive a few minutes before sunset and wait around to see the bright lights of Times Square and of New York City skyscrapers light up the island of Manhattan. This is definitely one of the highlights of a visit to New York. Allow enough time to enjoy the New York Skyride, a 3D simulated tour of New York City from above. Be aware that lines may be long and admission prices are steep.
