Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge from Brooklyn to Manhattan while taking in the most fantastic views of both! Whether for exercise, for romance, or for tourism, this incredible walk is a must-do for anyone who comes to New York.
The New York City skyline would be incomplete without the Brooklyn Bridge. The suspension/cable-stay hybrid bridge was designed by John Augustus Roebling and opened in 1883. It is free in both directions (one of the few things in New York that still is!) and brings walkers and drivers across the East River, nearly 6,000 feet from end to end.
Walkers can embark on this 20 minute walk (or more if you take your time and enjoy the scenery) from the Brooklyn side at Tillary, Adams, and Prospect streets, or from the Manhattan side at the end of Centre Street or from the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall subway station. Cyclists are also welcome! Along the way, make sure you stop and read the information plaques that highlight the history of the bridge and the monumental impact it's had on the development of Brooklyn and Manhattan and urban centers.
Take a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and become a part of the New York City skyline!
