Our Museum Expert Says:

Step into tranquility entreat the Wave Hill's 28-acre public garden and cultural center in the Bronx, overlooking the Hudson River and Palisades. Come and celebrate magnificent vistas and artistry, and the legacy of this magnificent garden and landscape. You will especially enjoy the intimacy and serenity of this carefully cultivated garden.

A rustic fence surrounds the flower garden's combinations of vintage and modern perennials, annuals, shrubs, bulbs, and other exotic flowers. Be forewarned, you will be inspired by the breathtaking greenery and color.

See how the gardeners achieve a planted-by-nature effect in the wild garden and gaze at the garden pool with water lilies and vines sprawling all around. Be sure to check out the unique Alpine Green House that houses high-altitude plants and flowers.

The garden's most beautiful vistas are found at Pergola Overlook and the Elliptical Garden, which are particularly stunning at sunset in the fall, and the Herbert and Hyonja Abrons Woodland, with its winding paths through 10 acres of forest can make visitors forget they are in America! Not to be missed, the garden features an outdoor art gallery that engages visitors in a dialogue with nature and culture.

The Wave Hill café offers light meals, and a spectacular view of the Hudson River and Palisades.

Wave Hill is a short walk from the 252nd Street bus stop, served by the BX 7 or 10 buses. Leave the bus at 252nd Street and walk across the parkway bridge and turn left.
