Founded in 1929 as an educational institution with only eight prints and one drawing, the Museum of Modern Art now boasts over 150,000 paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, photographs, and architectural models. That's not all, some 22,000 films, videos, film stills, scripts, posters and historical documents, plus there's a library with 300,000 artist books and periodicals, the Museum of Modern Art truly seems to have everything possible from the late 19th century to today.
The large number of exhibitions at the museum include a fascinating display of digitally mastered architectural pieces, designed to express people's exact needs and desires. Visitors can learn new perspectives in Latin American art, or review the great George Seurat's drawings. There is even an exhibit on the font Helvetica, celebrating over 50 years as the official typeface of the 20th century.
Three dining options are offered at the museum. Try out the Italian restaurant, Café 2, or if you prefer a light meal, the Terrace 5 café serves savory dishes, pastries, wine, beer, coffee. For those looking for a more formal setting, The Modern features Alsatian-inspired cuisine in a dining room overlooking the gorgeous Rockefeller Sculpture Garden.

Located between 5th and 6th Ave. the Museum of Modern Art can be reached by subways E or V to 5th Ave & 53rd St. or B, D and F to 47-50 Streets / Rockefeller Center. Visitors can also take busses M1-M5 to 53rd Street and walk.
