Spend the day with interactive science that you can touch and feel. With cutting-edge exhibits about nature, technology and how we fit into it all, the Liberty Science Center promises a recreation and education-filled day for everyone who visits.
First opened in 1993, the Liberty Science Center is filled with interactive science exhibits plus the world's largest Dome IMAX theatre and the original Hoberman sphere sure to entertain adults and children alike. One of the more popular exhibits here is Skyscraper! Achievement and Impact, which at 12,800 square feet, is the most comprehensive single exhibition ever presented on the massive buildings. Eat and Be Eaten lets visitors explore the predator-prey relationship, and see deadly vipers and puffer fish as well. The Infection Connection helps kids explore important global health issues. "Green" families will love the Energy Quest exhibit, which explores technologies used to harness energy.
Families with younger kids will enjoy the I Explore exhibit aimed at children ages 18 months to 6-years-old. Since the average visit lasts four to five hours, be sure to clear the whole day and pop into the Café Skylines for a light lunch.
To get here, take the PATH to Pavonia/Newport or Exchange Place station and transfer to the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail. Come ready to learn and explore at the action-packed Liberty Science Center.
