Our Museum Expert Says:

Look out for three magnificent magnolia trees on 5th Avenue as you walk into Henry Clay Frick's (1849-1919) gallery & mansion of splendor and tranquility. The gallery offers masterpieces of Western painting, sculpture, and decorative art, all displayed in the most serene and intimate of settings.

Frick, one of America's most successful coke and steel industrialists, amassed a collection including some of the best-known paintings by the greatest European artists. The collection holds major works of sculpture (with the finest groups of small bronzes), superb eighteenth-century French furniture and porcelains, Limoges enamels, Paper Works, Clocks, Silver, Oriental rugs, and other remarkable pieces of which 1,100 are from the Renaissance to the late 19th Century. Gaze upon the great Masters' works such as Rembrandt van Rijn, Giovanni Bellini, El Greco, Frans Hals, Johannes Vermeer, and many more.

Stop by the Frick Collection store for beautiful cards, stationary, porcelain boxes, tin plates, scarves, and other exquisitely decorated items.

The Frick Collection is located on Manhattan's Upper East Side, on 70th Street between 5th and Madison Ave. Take Lexington Avenue Subway No. 6 local to 68th St. station or buses M1 – M4 southbound on Fifth Avenue, northbound on Madison Avenue, and get ready to take in a true art paradise.
