Our Botanical Gardens Expert Says:
The Queens Botanical Garden was founded as a part of the 1939 World's Fair, and has been continually updated since. It sprawls over 39 acres of land and contains excellent bee and herb gardens, as well as seasonal displays of tulips, roses, and chrysanthemums. Its mission is to teach of the importance of plants to people in an urban environment. Several gardens are unique in this urban setting, including the Green Roof Garden, showing how a complete eco-system can be created on an 8000 square foot roof and the Backyard Gardens showcasing landscaping ideas for New York City backyards. Don't miss the spring cherry blossoms in the Cherry Circle.
