In the remote wilderness of Vermont's aptly nicknamed "Northeast Kingdom," sites and lodging may be far and in between, but the area's old fashioned feeling will make a visit worthwhile. Combine that with the breathtaking views from atop Mount Hor, where moderate skiing is available through scenic ski tours, and you have a one-of-a-kind experience. Just a few miles off the Canadian border, Mount Hor towers over beautiful Lake Willoughby, a pristine centerpiece of this striking mountain range and state forest. The lake is surrounded to its east and west by the steep granite slabs of its mountains, where the skiing is, among other things, certainly scenic.
