Our Museum Expert Says:

You and your kids will go head over heels for The Children's Museum of Portsmouth in New Hampshire. Over 20 super exhibits await you as you learn about the arts and sciences nurturing your child's natural curiosity and sense of wonder. Dig up buried dinosaurs, build a music matrix, play in a yellow submarine or run your own full-service post office.

The Children's Museum of Portsmouth is really a full play station for children. They can feel what it's like to work on a lobster boat, play with a magic magnifying glass or alter sound waves and see how they might appear based on frequencies and wavelength. The museum's one-of-a-kind Kaleidoscopic exhibit invites visitors to place their head into a human-sized kaleidoscope and see their whole body reflected around them.

Visitors to The Children's Museum of Portsmouth can try their luck at Mindball (featured in the Play It Cool exhibit), a two-player biofeedback game in which players wear an electrode headband and compete against each other to see who can most relax their brainwaves. Make sculptures of your body parts in the First Impressions exhibit, or orbit the earth in the Space Shuttle exhibit.

The museum shop carries T-shirts, tote bags, books, puzzles, magnet sets, jewelry and more. Your kids will love the dino-puzzles.
