Our History Buff Says:

Experience the beauty of the home, studios and gardens of Augustus Saint-Gaudens, one of America's greatest sculptors!

The Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site boasts over 100 of the famous sculptor's artworks, from public monuments to portrait reliefs, and the gold coins which changed the look of American coinage. This estate also hosted over seventy artists and patrons at the turn of the century, including greats such as Maxfield Parrish and Winston Churchill, and served as the "Summer White House" to Woodrow Wilson. Today, visitors can explore nature trails and over 100 acres of forested grounds, take a sculpture class and enjoy summer concerts. And in the summer and fall, guests flock from all over to gaze at gardens brimming with flowers, along with period plantings, and European-influenced casts of ancient sculptures. There is also a cutting garden which has a wide variety of flowers grown for the floral arrangements found in the galleries. Visitors who want to learn more about Saint-Gaudens can watch the video presentation, "Augustus Saint-Gaudens: An American Original," take a tour of the grounds, or enjoy the self-guided audio tour.

It's easy to get to the Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site. Take Route I-91 North to exit 8 (Ascutney). Cross the Connecticut River and then turn left onto NH Route 12A.
