Our Zoo and Aquarium Expert Says:

Take a stroll through one of the oldest botanical institutions in the United States. The Missouri Botanical Garden is a National Historic Landmark, and a natural oasis in the middle of St. Louis. Visitors here have 79 acres of garden to explore, which include a Japanese strolling garden, a Climatron geodesic dome conservatory, and the award-winning rose gardens. Families will enjoy touring Henry Shaw's country home, the Tower Grove House, and taking a tram ride past the dozens of statues and fountains. the There's a lovely children's garden, geared especially for kids, with a pioneer village, a playground, a fountain area, and a water locking system. The Garden hosts many cultural festivals throughout the year, including the Japanese Festival and Chinese Culture Days, along with showcases of cultural arts, crafts, music, and food. Those passionate about plants will enjoy the Bonsais, which are grown all year round and highlighted during the multiple Asian festivals. To get here, travel West on I-64/40 and take the Clarkson/Olive exit (19B). Take a right off that exit, and you will be on Olive Blvd. The Butterfly House is about 1.2 miles down the road, on the left side, inside Faust Park.
