Blanchard Springs Caverns - Mountain View, Arkansas

Things to do / Travel Guide

Our Tourist Attractions Expert Says:

Spend your summer vacation at one of the most exciting caves in America and hike through some of the most beautiful places in Arkansas! Hike, camp and picnic and ponder the mystery of the 1000-year-old Native American skeleton in the cave! <
Back in the 1930s, Mountain View locals knew about the Blanchard Springs Cavern even before the first official attempts to explore them. Over 40 years later, the caverns were opened to the public after ten years of intense trail-building. Today, Blanchard Springs Caverns offers three different tours to visitors: the Dripstone Trail which winds through the upper level caves and the longer, more strenuous Discovery Trail which explores the middle level of the Caverns system. For those true cave adventurers, the Wild Cave Tour will even teach you a thing or two about spelunking.
Naturally, there is also endless recreation opportunity at Blanchard Springs Caverns outside of the caves, from swimming holes and creeks, to fishing, camping on over 30 campsites, picnicking, wildlife and educational programs. The town of Mountain View is also fun--the Ozark Mountain Folk Center is just about 15 minutes away from the caverns and you may even find people folk singing in the streets. There are also many great restaurants and shops on Main Street in Mountain View but before you leave the caves, be sure to hit the Blanchard Springs Caverns Visitor Information Center for books, maps, and other educational materials that make great souvenirs to remember your trip to the Caverns.
