Our Sports Superfan Says:
Constructed with the sole aim of luring the NFL's Rams from Los Angeles, the Edward Jones Dome is one of the biggest indoor arenas in the Midwest. With the Rams playing only two preseason, eight regular season, and a maximum of two postseason games at home, the arena has a huge array of events throughout the year, including basketball games, concerts, boat shows, religious conventions, and many more.
The Rams finest season at the Dome, since moving east in 1995, was in 1999, when they went 13-3. They then went on to win Super Bowl XXXIV over the Tennessee Titans. The road to the championship included clinching the trip to Atlanta with a hard-fought 11-6 win over Tampa Bay at the Edward Jones (then called the TWA) Dome.
College basketball has recently come to the Dome as well, with the 2005 NCAA Men's Final Four being hosted here, as well as one of the 2007 regional groups. It is also scheduled to host the 2009 Women's Final Four. The Big 12 football championship game has also been held here twice. There are high school football games played here, as well as many major concerts and conventions. There have been some notable religious events here as well. In 1999, Pope John Paul II held mass here for more than 104,000 fans, and that same year the Reverend Billy Graham held a four day crusade here that attracted more than 200,000.
The Dome is located in downtown St. Louis, and is served by the Convention Center Metrolink line and the No. 10 Bus route.
