Our Ski Specialist Says:

Snow Creek is definitely what one would define as a family-friendly, beginners' ski site. If you're visiting the Kansas Missouri border, and looking for a place to test out your skis, then the Snow Creek Ski Area is the place for you. Snow Creek, just an hour's drive from Kansas City, is one of the only places in Missouri which offers an alpine experience for both skiers and boarders. Despite the relatively small summit, Snow Creek's advanced snow-making capabilities ensure almost a foot of manmade snow daily, to make sure you have the time of your life.

Snow Creek is definitely beginners central, with 2 areas made especially for those picking up their skis for the first time, and a renowned snow school to teach beginners of all ages. Despite this beginner's focus, 9 of its 12 trails are intermediate; ensuring parents and other advanced skiers will enjoy their time at Snow Creek as well. There are 7 trails to take you up to the 25 acres of skiable terrain. All of Snow Creek's slopes are lit up at night to guarantee a good time even after the sun goes down.

The resort is very snowboard friendly, with a half pipe and two terrain parks to keep both beginner and more advanced boarders happy. One terrain park is built in progressive styles for those just starting out, while the advanced park is filled with jumps, bumps, mounds, rails, table tops, and pipes for the advanced and expert boarder and skier looking to catch some air. Snow Creek's season tends to run from mid-December to mid-March. It is open daily, with weekday hours running from noon until 9:00 PM, while Saturday and Sunday you'll find it open already from 9:00am. Make sure to check out the midnight madness on the mountain. On Friday and Saturday the mountain remains open till 3:00am to really give adrenaline junkies their fix.

If the family's looking for a little down time from skiing and boarding but still want some excitement, make sure to check out the mountain's tube park. With 100 foot vertical drop, and over 300 tubes available, everyone is sure to have a great time whizzing down the mountain. Also, make sure to check out historic Weston with its interesting sites and monuments, such as the oldest whiskey distillery west of the Mississippi River.

Snow Creek's lodge offers cafeteria styled snacks and beverages great for on the hill ski breaks but, if you're looking for something with a little more substance, take a short drive to Weston and check out their variety of dining options ranging from cafes to pizza places.

Accommodation is definitely not a problem for those visiting the region. Less than 5 miles away there are a choice of numerous B&Bs in Weston. Snow Creek has a variety of specials for those staying the night, so make sure to check those out before you book your lodging. Additional options may be found at the winter campsites dotting the area, and with more than 1000 rooms within an hour's drive of Snow Creek, you'll never be without a pillow for the night. Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas are each just an hour away, and are definitely worth the drive over. Kansas City, Missouri is known as the "City of Fountains," as it has more than 200 fountains. It is also one of the world capitals of barbeques, with more than 90 BBQ restaurants. You're sure to find a place to lay your weary legs after a long day on the hill with plenty of lodging options available.
