Visit one of the largest Science Centers in the United States! Walk through a model of the human body or explore the future of space travel in this science adventure for visitors of all ages!
Originally founded by the Academy of Science, St. Louis' Museum of Science offers free admission, one of only two science museums in the country to do so. The Museum boasts cool exhibits such as Body Worlds 3, an exhibition of real human bodies with 200 authentic human specimens, including whole-bodies, individual organs and transparent body slices that have been preserved by replacing bodily fluids and fat with reactive plastics. The Discovery Room is great for kids aged 3-7 to explore interactive exhibits on topics such as magnets and water behavior. Alternatively, they can have fun dressing up as Native Americans. The onsite James S. McDonnell Planetarium is one of the nation's leading space education facilities, and there are several lab areas, such as the SBC Learning Center, that give viewers a glimpse of what it's like to live and work on the International Space Station Visitors can see how one would have to eat, exercise, sleep and dress in space. When all the exploring has made you hungry, the Food Court offers fast food or you can dine at Moms Lunar Cafe.
To get here, you can take the Metrobus. If driving from Highway 40/I-64, exit Kings highway south at exit 36a and then make an immediate right turn onto Oakland. You'll turn left into our main drive. If you're coming from I-44, exit Hampton Ave. at exit 286 north. Drive north on Hampton Ave. for almost a mile, then turn right on Oakland. Whatever you fancy, the St. Louis Science Center has something for everyone!
