Our Museum Expert Says:

Come explore the urban roots of St. Louis! With exhibits built from everything from salvaged bridges to abandoned planes, the City Museum of St. Louis promises a far out, hands-on museum experience.

The City Museum of St. Louis is housed in a former International Shoe Company and created from the salvages of the city itself. The idea for the museum was conceived by a sculptor and entrepreneur and built by a crew of 20 artisans. As a result, visitors here will have endless opportunities for fun, climbing and crawling through the Enchanted Caves and exploring the two Saber 40 aircraft fuselages, fire engine, castle turret, and iron slinkies of Monstrocity. Kids and adults alike will get a kick out of exhibits such as CM in the PM. Another popular attraction is the World Aquarium, a 13,500 square ft. aquatic water-world, home to 10,000 water-creatures, including sharks, stingrays, and seahorses. When you're ready, take a break for a bite to eat at Samwiches in the City, and enjoy sandwiches made with handcrafted bread, soups, salads, brain freezes, milkshakes and gooey chocolate chip cookies.

Getting here is easy. From Convention Center Station go 9 blocks west and 1 block north or, if coming from Union Station, Go 9 blocks north and 1 block east. If you're riding the Metro Link Bus, get off at the Convention Center Station. This station is underground, so you'll need to come to street level on Washington and catch the westbound Delmar bus (Route #97). When you're planning to visit, be sure to wear your sneakers and long pants for comfy climbing and exploring at this unforgettable city attraction.
