Hyland Ski & Snowboard is the place to go when it's time to learn winter sports. Inspired by former champions who learned the ropes right here on these slopes, beginners flock to the mountain to take their own crack at skiing and boarding. Whether experts honing their Winter X Games skills, or parents taking their kids for training, studying snowsportsters have discovered the Hyland's advantages.
A small ski area nestled into the 1,000 acre Hyland Park Reserve, Hyland is known for some of the best snowmaking and grooming in the Midwest. Relative to other Midwest ski hills' vertical drops, Hyland Ski & Snowboard is a small-size ski hill with that family feeling. Seven lifts service 14 trails here, mostly on the beginner level, but more advanced skiers will find their piece of heaven here amongst the other trails. Beginner snowboarders are also likely to feel comfortable here, with a terrain park jam packed with progressive features and a half pipe to ensure you catch your first piece of air. Weather permitting, the season starts here in November and continues on into March. Hyland Ski & Snowboard has night skiing every day of the week. From Monday to Thursday the mountain opens at 10:00am and closes at 9:00pm, while on Fridays and Saturdays it opens at 9:00am and closes at 10:00pm. Sunday's hours run from 9:00am to 9:00pm.
The Hyland Park Reserve offers an extensive choice of winter activities for those looking for other afternoon activities. For those beginners who feel they've conquered the mountain, and are ready for more advanced skiing, there are numerous alpine mountains in the vicinity.
