Buena Vista Ski Area is located right on the continental divide, providing skiers with not only a great skiing experience, but also with a breathtaking view of the Nine Lakes. Making it even lovelier is the fact that the lakes are viewable not only from the top, but rather the whole way down the mountain.

The mountain gives its visitors 20 skiable acres, with 16 different trails serviced by 5 lifts. The vertical drop here is 230 feet and there is 100% snowmaking capability onsite, so when Mother Nature is not holding up her side of the bargain, the machines kick in and take over for her.

The hours at Buena Vista Ski Area vary from month to month, so make sure to check before you plan your vacation. During December the mountain is open Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00am to 5:00pm. During January and February the mountain is open Friday and Saturday from 10:00am to 8:00pm and Sundays from 10:00am to 6:00pm, and during the month of March Buena Vista stays open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00am to 6:00pm.

Snowboarders are also welcome on the mountain as long as they have a board leash. But borders may be more interested in Buena Vista's two terrain parks. These feature plenty of jibs, rails, and tricks to keep boarders entertained, while their skiing friends take to the slopes.

A variety of additional activities are available at Buena Vista. The cross-country skiing gives you access to beautiful panoramas and winter scapes while gliding across the 15 miles of trails. Make sure to organize a cross-country pass before you head off to the trails. For a more romantic ride, take a horse drawn sleigh ride through the snowy Buena Vista countryside. There is also a tubing park where kids of all ages can have lots of fun located just around the corner.

Buena Vista features the Continental Cafe where warm lunches are served all day long. For additional dining options, make out to check out Bemidji's Italian cuisine, and a couple of other dining options. Lodging is also available in nearby Bemidji, with familiar hotel chains, motels, and inns all available as options.
