Explore incredible interactive exhibits and over 1.7 million artifacts and objects ranging from dinosaur remains and fossils to preserved animals and plants! Enjoy 3D cinema and breathtaking views of the Mississippi River at this Minnesota science Mecca.
The Science Museum of Minnesota's collection began with thousands of scientific specimens offered as gifts, including a mummy shipped from Egypt by a vacationing St. Paul couple. Today, child and adult visitor alike can enjoy such exhibits as the Dinosaurs and Fossils Gallery, which boasts among other things the real and replicated dinosaur skeletons of a Triceratops, a Diplodocus, a Stegosaurus, and a Camptosaurus, as well as other preserved animals. The Big Back Yard outdoor exhibit contains information and interactive displays on earth science such as a mini golf course which explores erosion, pollution, and water movement. The museum's Science House building educates visitors about renewable energy and energy conservation. One of the cooler attractions here is the world's largest convertible dome Omnitheater which shows films such as "Greece: Secrets of the Past."
The Science Museum has a variety of choices for sciency snack breaks such as the Elements Café, which has salads and pizza for you to enjoy with the incredible Mississippi River views. Alternatively, you may want to snack on hot dogs, deli sandwiches, soft pretzels, and ice cream beneath the watchful eye of the mighty Diplodocus at Chomp, outside the Dinosaurs & Fossils Gallery. The Science Museum is located at 120 W. Kellogg Boulevard, across from the River-Centre in downtown St. Paul. Be sure to allow 2-3 hours for this educational and fun Minnesota attraction.
