Hailed as the finest building constructed in Minnesota since the Capitol, built in 1992, the Minnesota History Center's architecture, art and resources, form the history and future of Minnesota. This fascinating museum illuminates the history of Minnesota with fascinating exhibits and art galleries.

The MN150 exhibit at the Minnesota History Center introduces visitors to people, places, and events that have made significant changes to Minnesota's history, celebrating a glorious 150 years. The Home Place Minnesota exhibit shows a 10 minute movie (every 30 minutes) about early settlers to Minnesota and their fond memories of the land and its communities. The voices, images, and artifacts in the movie bring to life the emotions of those for whom Minnesota is home.

A favorite exhibit for kids is Grainland, tracing the journey of wheat and corn from farm to grain elevator. You will also be fascinated by Minnesota's territorial and political history showcased in the Tales of the Territory exhibit.

On level 1 of the Museum's Great Hall visitors will be impressed with the giant Charm bracelet, a work of art embedded in the floor. On level 3 of the Great Hall, step into the Sky Mural and you will get the impression that you are surrounded by windows. Glass etchings and a star motif are found throughout the building. The star stands for Minnesota, the North Star State. Can you see the letter M in this glorious star?

For those looking for fun and excitement, climb aboard a 24-ton box car or experience an extreme Minnesota tornado in a multimedia show sure to blow you away.

The History Center features two stores. The Museum store itself contains a host of delightful gifts and books relating to the people and history of Minnesota. The Sights of Minnesota Store presents a tour of the state region by region and contains beautiful landscape picture books.
