Crawl through the maze of tunnels in the giant ant hill. Create a thunderstorm, and operate a huge crane! The Minnesota Children's Museum is filled with hands-on fun that will keep kids of all ages entertained for hours!
Designed for children four months to 10 years old, the Minnesota Children's Museum has 4 permanent galleries with a focus on hands-on learning. Exhibits such as Earth World introduce children to nature's seasons, cycles and systems, and World Works exhibit puts the tools for invention and creativity into children's hands. The One World exhibit connects children to the world and its people through international food and music, and Habitot is a learning landscape for toddlers to explore Minnesota's habitats - the prairie, the pond, the forest and the bluff caves. Everyone will love Rooftop Art Park, which combines nature and art in an outdoor gallery on the museum's roof where activities and performances by singers, dancers, jugglers and storytellers take place daily.
Kid Spark, the Minnesota Children's Museum store, has healthy food and beverage options for all the family and there's a small vending area with tables and chairs. Alternatively, visitors are welcome to bring a bag lunch, however food and drinks are not allowed in the galleries. There are also a variety of sit–down and fast food restaurants connected to the museum by skyway or within a short walk.
It will take more than one trip to explore everything at the Minnesota Children's Museum, so clear another day and be sure to come back for more!
From Minnesota Children's Museum - St. Paul:
In 1985, the Children's Museum moved to an old blacksmith's shop in Bandana Square, transforming dirt walls into 18,000 square–feet of galleries. At the new location, even more young visitors discovered the fun of playing to learn. Attendance the first year in Bandana Square jumped to 200,000. By the early 1990s, the Museum's visitors and exhibits again outgrew the space in Bandana Square. Plans to build an even bigger museum began. The doors to Minnesota Children's Museum in downtown St. Paul opened with 65,000 square–feet of gallery and program space in September 1995.
