Things to do / Travel Guide

In a region with such great natural beauty, some might question why they have to visit a zoo to see beautiful animals. The answer is that there aren't any giraffes, iguanas, or kookaburras wandering around the Minnesota wilderness, much less down the streets of Minneapolis. The three zoos of this region host many wondrous creatures for all animal lovers to enjoy.

Located near both Minneapolis and St. Paul, in Apple Valley, the Minnesota Zoological Garden is a great place to bring the kids, who'll get a major thrill from the petting zoo and train rides.
Adults will love the fact that in addition to animals from around the world, there are shows, an IMAX theater, tours, and educational presentations.

If you're in Duluth and have hankering for a kookaburra, iguana, grizzly bear, markhor, or spring hare, the Lake Superior Zoological Gardens is the place to go. There's also a petting zoo for the little ones.
