There are a few wineries in the Minnesota region, a number being on the St. Croix River, one north of the Twin Cities, and one to their south. Both are easy day trips from the Twin Cities.
To the north of the Twin Cities is Northern Vineyards, in Stillwater. Walk in to the winery from Main Street, and admire the nice brick façade. The wines are made on-site, and the vineyards are located within Minnesota or western Wisconsin. The wines are made from Pinot, Gewürztraminer, Minnesota LaCrosse, Barbera, and more.
South of the Twin Cities, on the outskirts of Red Wing, is Falconer Vineyards. This winery specializes in well-aging wines, with varieties such as Marechal Falk, Chambourcin, Gewürztraminer, and Vignoles. All the grapes are grown in vineyards in the area or on the premises.
