Minnesota Luxury Vacations - Hotels, Lodges and Outfitters
While it is certainly true that few people think of Minnesota when planning a luxury vacation, those who enjoy getting out into nature and want to explore the lakes and forests of Minnesota and want to do it in style will find much to offer in the Minnesota wilderness.

- Burntside Lodge in Ely, Minnesota has been around for over 100 years, originally as a hunting camp deep in the pine woodlands. You will stay in a log cabin, take boats out on Burnside Lake, hike in the forest and enjoy gourmet dining at the Burntside restaurant.
- Kawishiwi Lodge is unique in that it is reachable only by canoe. Staying at the lodge allows for easy access to Lake One in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. In their own words, Kawishiwi Lodge is where “a little bit of Luxury meets a lot of Wildeness”.
Residents of Minneapolis – Saint Paul call the area around Brainerd “Up North”. Brainerd is about 120 miles north of the Twin Cities and is the gateway to the Lake region. Brainerd is home to several popular resorts:
Craguns Resort on Gull Lake is a one-stop-shop for a luxury vacation. Rustic cabins offer balconies overlooking the lake, wood-burning fireplaces and general coziness. The resort offers some of the best golf courses in the Midwest and the spa offers a full range of treatments on site. Ourdoor activities include boating, fishing, swimming and in the winter, cross-country skiing.
Madden's Resort, also on Gulf Lake has been around since the 1920's and is known for its fine dining and wide range of activities, including “The Classic” - one of the top public courses in the United States (#33 according to Golf Digest). The resort buildings are historic and some rooms may seem a bit old to visitors.
Kavanaugh's, on Sylvan Lake combines golf, boating, hiking and other activities with modern cottages and condos.
Minnesota Canoe and Vacation Outfitters
Outfitters run guided fishing, boating and hiking trips into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and other lake areas in Minnesota. The trips range from simple day trips to multi-day packages including meals and lodging.
