Our Zoo and Aquarium Expert Says:

If you're in Chicago, you must visit the Lincoln Park Zoo. It's free, for one thing, and for another thing, it's excellent. The Regenstein African Journey, for example, features large, lush habitats for wild dogs, meerkats, aardvarks, giraffes, rhinos, crocodiles, warthogs, ostriches, and many other African animals. Enter the McCormick Bird House and you're stepping into the dense, tropical free-flight area to watch exotic and endangered birds gracefully soar overhead. This habitat is home to more than 20 bird species. The Kovler Sea Lion Pool was originally constructed in 1879 and then rebuilt in 1969. This popular attraction lets viewers enjoy a close look at the seals as they gracefully glide through the water. And there's much, much more.

Especially for kids: Petting Zoo, Animal Rides, Boat Rides, Train Rides. Stroller rentals available.
