Our Zoo and Aquarium Expert Says:

Come explore 385 acres of woods and waterways, filled with 23 display gardens, and three natural areas. The Chicago Botanic Garden is a living nature preserve that will enliven and rejuvenate all who visit it. The garden has 8 large lagoons and a variety of botanical environments, from Illinois prairie to a three-island Japanese garden. In addition to an incredibly beautiful botanical environment, there are countless activities for visitors to enjoy. Go birding or biking, or check out the large fruit-and-vegetable "enabling garden" where you'll learn how gardening can be adapted for people with disabilities. There are drop-in and weekend family programs which integrate science, art, and language and provide families with an opportunity to learn together. The younger crowd will also enjoy the No Child Left Inside program, which encourages kids to reconnect with nature. The Garden also offers exercise classes such as Yoga, tai chi, and walking, and has an exhibit hall, an auditorium, a museum, a library, an outdoor pavilion, a carillon, a cafe, and a garden shop. Suffice it to say that you'll have no problem here finding a way to fill your day! If you're visiting with a group, why not schedule a tram garden tour to maximize your fun. To get to Chicago Botanic Garden, by car from Chicago, follow the Kennedy Expressway (I-90/94) west to Eden's Expressway (I-94) and U.S. Route 41. Exit at Lake Cook Road, and travel 1/2 mile east to the Garden.
