A perfect home for the world's best volleyballers, North Avenue Beach is arguably Chicago's finest beach. It hosts the AVP Chicago Open each year, a top event, here on the shores of Lake Michigan.
Competition lasts from Thursday to Sunday, with free admission to Thursday's qualifying rounds. Play begins at 9 a.m. on Friday and 8:30 on Saturday, with the men's finals taking place late Saturday afternoon. The women's tournament concludes Sunday, with the finals at around 3 p.m.
Tickets are available in regular and courtside rates, with discounts available for student and youth. There are also group packages available and worth checking out.
North Avenue Beach is located on Lake Shore Drive in the northern part of Chicago. It is served by several Chicago Transit Authority buses, as well as by the light rail and el services.
