Our Museum Expert Says:

Become a crime scene investigator, or step inside the only German submarine in the United States! Take a walk through a human heart or travel to fairyland! The Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago's 4th most popular attraction, is filled with quirky fun that will surely leave you running back for more.

Located in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood, the Museum of Science and Industry is loaded with unique exhibits and attractions for kids of all ages. The CSI exhibit, one of the newer exhibits, will surely entice lovers of mystery and science with its 3 very cool and different crime scenes complete with whodunits that visitors get to investigate and solve. The Omnimax has showings of movies such as "Mummies: Secrets of the Pharoahs" and "Hurricane on the Bayou," while the Coal Mine simulates a real visit down into a mine, to mention just a couple of the more popular attractions. The Museum itself is housed in the only in-place surviving building from the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. This was also the Former Palace of Fine Arts and was featured in the 1978 horror flick, "Damien: The Omen II."

After exploring the countless cool exhibits here, feed your head at the Brain Food Court or Brain Food café where you can chow down on freshly made pizzas, deli sandwiches, and salads. For a treat, visit Finnigan's old fashioned ice cream parlor, based on a real 1917 Hyde Park ice cream parlor of the same name, for sundaes and shakes.

To get here, take Metra. Trains stop at the 57th Street station, just two blocks from the Museum's north entrance; turn left as you exit the station. Chicago South Shore and South Bend trains only stop at the 57th Street station. If you're traveling by bus, take the #2 Hyde Park Express south to 57th and Stony Island and walk 1 block east to the Museum. The #6, 10 and 28 busses will also all take you here. Make sure to arrive early to get in as much fun as you can before the lines begin at the diverse and sensational Museum of Science of Industry.

From Museum of Science and Industry - Chicago, Illinois:

The Museum is always changing in order to stay on the cutting edge of technology. Unfortunately, some exhibits have had to leave the Museum to make room for the new exhibits, never to be seen again.
