Visit the largest Latino culture organization in the U.S. With over 5,500 objects in its permanent collection, the Mexican Fine Arts Museum houses one of the largest collections of Mexican art in the nation and is a true living museum!
Located in the vibrant Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago, home to one of the nation's largest Mexican-American communities, the Mexican Fine Arts Museum has a huge collection of art in many mediums, and fantastic performing arts programming, including literary events, concerts, dance productions and film and video screenings. The Museum is very family-oriented and offers Kraft Family Sundays, usually related to themes of current exhibitions. Visitors can also enjoy ever-changing festival programming, such as the Day of the Dead celebration, which runs for about 8 weeks beginning in September, and the Sor Juana Festival, presented in the fall, which honors Mexican writer and pioneering feminist Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz with photography and painting exhibits, music and theater performances, and poetry readings by Latina women.
The museum's Tienda Tzintzunzan store is brimming with brightly colored souvenirs and products made by Mexican artists from all over the world and the United States. So clear the afternoon and bring the whole family for an unforgettable day of fun at the Mexican Fine Arts Museum!
To get to the Mexican Fine Arts Museum, take the 54/Cermak Pink Line and get off on the 18th Street stop. After exiting the train station, proceed west on 18th Street to Wood Street. Take Wood Street south to 19th Street and turn right (west) on 19th Street until you reach the museum.
