The Kohl Children's Museum is a leader in interactive play learning and provides phenomenal hands-on educational experiences for youngsters. At the Kohl Children's Museum learning comes alive and is a lot of fun. 17 hands-on exhibits are ideally suited for kids aged from birth, up to eight years old.
You can expect to spend the day in the Adventures in Art and All About Me exhibits. The City on the Move exhibit explores math and science, magnetism, and electricity, while you're taken on a whimsical tour of Chicago.
In the Hands on House exhibit children get to choose the walls, carpets, tiles, wallpaper, and the landscape as they help create a child-sized home, using machine like wheels and pulleys to put it together. Children will also love the Discovery Maze and Habitat Park exhibits. And in Water Works, children explore the nature of water and gravity by playing with floating objects, an Archimedes Screw, and air. Learn about rhythm, vibration, tension, composition, melody, harmony, emotion, and movement in Music Makers, or dig through play dirt and learn the life cycles of a butterfly in Nature Explorers.
The innovation of the Kohl Children's Museum will really blow you away. Of course, no museum for children would be complete without a Village Toy Shop, offering a wide variety of toys to take home.
Be sure not to miss Kim & Scott's Gourmet Pretzel Bakery & Twisting Café where children can enjoy a "cocoaccino" float, sandwiches, salads, and ice cream sundaes.
Get to the Kohl Children's Museum on the Milwaukee District North Line subway and get off at North Glenview Station and walk a ½ mile west. Pace Bus Route 423 also stops nearby. By car take the 94 and exit Lake Avenue West, heading west for three miles. From the south you'll exit Skokie Road and make an immediate right onto Lake Avenue. Make a right onto Patriot Boulevard and your day of excitement begins.
