The museum features 11 galleries of temporary exhibitions and highlights from the permanent collection of more than 16,500 works, dating from 2300 B. C. through to the present, including paintings, sculpture, watercolors, prints and photography.

The museum's decorative art gallery includes Greco-Roman coins, textiles and baskets, and much more. Visitors can stop by the Mayer Print Center and Museum Shop, and if visiting with a group, tours can be scheduled Tuesday through Friday between 9 am and 4 pm or Saturday and Sunday between 11 am and 4 pm. Most tours last one hour.

To get to the Chazen Museum of Art, take City of Madison buses heading east to the corner of Johnson and Park Streets, one block to the south of the museum.
