Go diving in a partially sunken volcanic crater off the coast of Maui, Hawaii. Everyday boatloads of tourists are brought to Molokini to enjoy scuba diving and snorkeling to see the beautiful marine life swimming in the corals beneath Molokini's waters. A trip out to Molokini takes about 15 minutes. Molokini's crescent shape protects the area from waves and ocean currents, making this area one of the top ten dive sites in the world.
Molokini's reef area has clear views up to 150 feet. About 250 species of fish call Molokini home, including small chameleon octopuses that change color to match your wetsuit. Octopuses' coloration reflects their mood: white for fear, red for anger, and brown is the usual color.
Several dive operators in Maui offer a variety of courses for people of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced. Maui offers several cruise options out to Molokini. On the cruise you get hot breakfast with Maui coffee, island juices, tropical fruits, and freshly baked pastries, and there are unlimited ice refreshments throughout the journey. Snorkeling equipment is also included in the cruise.
Molokini is located three miles off the coast of Maui, south of Ma'alaea Bay. To get to Maui you need to fly into Kahului Airport- Ogg in Kahului and drive 30 minutes to Maui.
