Hamoa Beach in Maui, Hawaii, was rated as the sixth best beach in America by Dr. Beach in 2007! Visit this heaven on earth and you'll see why it's become such a favorite!
One reason why people love Hamoa Beach so much is because it is situated in a less developed area. Hamoa Beach is not overrun with hotels and tourists, but is surrounded instead by the beauty that only Hawaii has to offer: sea cliffs, lush vegetation, the nearby island of Alau filled with coconuts, and of course a wide sandy beach and the clearest of blue waters. What more could you ask for in paradise?
Swimming is a popular pastime at Hamoa Beach, as well as snorkeling, diving, and bodysurfing, but beware of the occasional high surf. There are strong currents that can be extremely dangerous. The best time to swim is when the waters are calm, generally in the summer and early fall.
Facilities include restrooms and picnic tables. Hamoa does share some facilities with the nearby Hotel Hana Maui if additional services are needed. There are no lifeguards and no parking on the beach – instead, park by the road and take the stairs down to the beach. Have fun relaxing at one of America's best beaches!
