Maui
July
The Kapalua Wine and Food Festival takes place every summer and is regarded as the premier food and wine event in Hawaii. The four-day Kapalua Wine and Food Festival features wine tasting seminars, cooking classes, and some of the best food to be eaten on Maui.
September
A Taste of Lahaina is a two-day event taking place every year in September. The event features food booths and exhibits from over 25 different restaurants on Maui. A Taste of Lahaina takes place at the Lahaina Recreation Park. Proceeds of the event are donated to local charities across the island.
October
The Xterra World Championship, usually held in late October, is an off-road triathlon that takes place on the slopes of the Halekala crater. The triathlon consists of a 1.5 kilometer ocean swim, 11 kilometer run, and a 30 kilometer bike ride.
Molokai
January
The Ka Molokai Makahiki Festival, held in late January at the Mitchell Pauole Center in Kaunakakai, is dedicated to maintaining the traditions of the island's ancient heritage. This festival includes lectures, art exhibits, land and ocean activities, sporting events, arts and crafts workshops, oil composition competitions, and some traditional island ceremonies.
April
Held in April at the Mitchell Pauole Center in Kaunakakai, Molokai's Earth Day Celebration is dedicated to educating the locals and visitors about preserving the island's natural and cultural resources.
The Hawaiian Educational Ha'olaulea Festival is held every April at the Lanikeha Center in Ho'olehua and includes arts and crafts, food, Hawaiian music as well as Keiki games.
May
The Kaiwi Challenge Relay is a 39-mile canoe race that runs from Molokai all the way across the waters to Waikiki, on Oahu. The Kaiwi Challenge Relay is held every year in May and starts from the Kaluakoi Resort on Molokai, ending at the Outrigger Canoe Club in Waikiki.
The Kanaka Ikaika Kayak Race, also known as the Starbucks Molokai Challenge, is the world championship race for one-man kayaking and canoe racing. The event features a 32-mile race from Molokai's Kaiwi Channel to Koko Marina on the eastern side of Oahu.
Rumor has the hula dance was born on the island of Molokai. To commemorate the hula dance, Molokai hosts the Ka Hula Piko Hula Festival each May, which features guest lectures by local hula experts.
July
Molokai - The Quiksilver Molokai to Oahu Paddleboard Race is the world championship event for paddleboard racing. Taking place during the summer season, this event features a treacherous paddleboard race that extends from Molokai all the way to Oahu.
August
The Molokai Bowhunters Archery Club State Tournament is a nationally-sanctioned hunting event that takes place on Molokai Ranch each August. Participants are grouped into level-, age-, and skill-based divisions before going out to hunt the axis deer.
