Scuba Diving in Hawaiian Islands of Maui, Molokai and Lanai

Things to do / Travel Guide

The waters of Maui, Molokai, and Lanai are home to a wide variety of unique marine wildlife, coral reefs, and impressive lava formations such as lava tubes, as well as lava-formed caves and caverns. These Hawaiian islands are full of diving sites from which visitors can take a plunge to explore what lies beneath the water.

Maui

For some exciting diving off the coast of Maui, it's best to head down to the island's western coast. Honolua Bay, Olowalu, and Five Caves, for instance, are located there, where divers can check out coral reefs and, on occasion, spinner dolphins, green sea turtles, manta rays, and moray eels.
Divers are encouraged to take a short boat ride out to the Molokini Crater and to catch a rare glimpse of tamed fish swimming among black corals. There are several dive operators located all around Maui that offer a variety of courses for people of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced.

Molokai

Molokai has several popular diving spots, all of which are centered in and around Mokuho'oniki Rock, located on the area on the eastern side of the island. Diving equipment can be rented in a number of places across Molokai.

Lanai

Lanai features several popular diving spots, including Manele Harbor, all located along the southern and western coasts of the island. Lanai, in particular, is known for offering many diving tours that are eco-friendly and work to protect the environment while simultaneously allowing visitors to enjoy the natural underwater beauty. Many shops around Lanai rent out diving equipment and offer courses for beginning divers as well as tours.
