Getting to Hawaiian Islands of Maui, Molokai and Lanai

Things to do / Travel Guide

Flights between any two islands in the Hawaiian archipelago usually don't last much longer than an hour or so.

Maui

The main airport on Maui is the Kahului Airport, where most commercial flights arrive and depart from. Maui's secondary airport is the Kapalua-West Maui Airport, which can be found off Highway 30 between Kapalua and Kaanapali. The Kapalua-West Maui Airport is generally serviced by small, propeller-driven aircraft and commuter airline service. Finally, on the eastern side of Maui sits Hana Airport, a small terminal serviced by inter-island air carriers only.

Molokai

Molokai is serviced by several inter-island air carriers, such as Island Air, Hawaiian Airlines, Molokai Air Shuttle (which offers flights to Kalaupapa, Oahu, and Lanai as well as scenic flights over the north shore of Molokai), Pacific Wings Airlines (which offers scheduled flights to Honolulu, Kahului, Hana, Kalaupapa, and Waimea, as well as a variety of charter flights to other parts of Hawaii), and Paragon Air (a charter-specific operator that offers air tours to Father Damien's).

Lanai

About three and a half miles south of Lanai City sits the Lanai Airport. It's very small and only has a small number of airlines flying in from the larger islands, such as Maui, Oahu, and Molokai.

There is a ferry that travels twice a day, every day, from Lahaina, in Maui, directly to Manele Harbor on Lanai. Manele Harbor is also the docking place for cruise ships that visit Lanai.
