Located in central Maine, by the town of Skowhegan, one will find a relatively small mountain with big mountain skiing. Everyone can find their niche here, as the trails here are varied for all skill levels. There are twelve trails, and two lifts which take skiers and boarders up to the 130 acres of terrain. The trails provide a nice challenge, with the longest trail clocking in at 1.5 miles. Boarders and freestylers will enjoy trying out their skills in Eaton's terrain park.
Eaton's season, weather permitting, lasts from November and continues into March. Eaton is closed on Mondays and has varied opening hours. From Tuesday to Thursday Eaton opens its doors at 3:00pm and remains open until 7:00pm. Saturday's hours span from 9:00am to 10:00pm, while Sunday the mountain opens up at 9:00am and closes its doors at 4:00pm. Make sure to also check out the mountain's tubing facilities while there.
The base lodge offers basic food for those looking to catch a quick bite to eat, but just around the corner is the Bear Trap Restaurant and Lounge; a perfect place to kick back and relax, with live entertainment and pool tables. Additional dining options can be found in nearby Skowhegan. Make sure to check out Skowhegan for a place to sleep as well, Skowhegan offers a variety of lodging options, including inns, B&Bs and motels.
