Located in the western part of Penobscot County, Maine, one finds the Mt. Jefferson Family Ski Area. Mount Jefferson caters mainly to families from the nearby towns of Lee, Springfield, and Lincoln. Mount Jefferson is a great family owned and run ski area, serving families with low prices and beautiful views.

Mount Jefferson vertical drop of 432 feet has twelve trails, a snowboard park, and a halfpipe, all of which are served by a T-bar and a rope tow. Mount Jefferson operates on weekends, from 9:00am to 4:00pm, on holidays and on school vacations. They also have night skiing on certain evenings, so make sure to check if they're open before heading this way.

The lodge provides hot drinks and small snacks, but that's all, so packing a lunch is recommended for those coming in for the day. You can feel free, however to explore the nearby area for dining options.For a place to sleep one will have to head offsite. Once can find a few small motels and B&Bs in Lincoln and an Econo Lodge in nearby Millinocket.
