Located on a finger of land that juts into the ocean, Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park has over 200 acres of forest and shoreland with trails that wind though river and rock. During hikes, visitors will likely encounter the most famous resident of the Park, the osprey, which has an interpretive trail dedicated to teaching visitors about its life cycle. The nearby Googins Island is actually an Osprey Sanctuary, a favorite spot for park-goers. In addition, nature lovers should also keep their eyes peeled for mushrooms, partridgeberry, and wild sarsaparilla that speckle the park's wooded areas. Wolfe's Neck also offers interpretive nature programs, picnic areas and grills for all to enjoy.

Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park is a five minute drive from the center of Freeport's bustling shopping district, and as visitors approach the park, marshes and open fields provide a tranquil transformation back to nature. In 1969, this area of more than 200 acres was given to the State by Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence M.C. Smith of Freeport. The park contains varied ecosystems, including climax white pine and hemlock forests, a salt marsh estuary, and the rocky shorelines on Casco Bay and the Harraseeket River.
