The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens occupies 128 acres of beautiful, natural landscape in the coastal town of Boothbay. The gardens are comprised of a menagerie of natural ecosystems including two-thirds-of-a-mile-long tidal waterfront on the Back River. There is a dramatic landscape with over 300 native plant species. This is the only coastal botanical garden on the entire Atlantic coast, and due to a donation of an additional 120 acres, it is now the largest botanical garden in New England. Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens can be found on Barters Island Road in the village of Boothbay. The Garden is open to the public from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Mondays-Fridays and from 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. on weekends and holidays; admission is free.

Then, come spring, revel in the brilliant color and masterful stonework in the spectacular Central Gardens, Rhododendron & Perennial Garden, Shoreland Garden of Native Plants, and Hillside Garden. Walk groomed trails along the shore and on ledge-lined paths on our 248-acre waterfront landscape. Savor the peace you'll find amidst natural woods, wildflowers and ferns, and see outdoor sculpture displayed in perfect settings.
