Our Beach Bum Says:

From the 500-foot pier, and classic seaside amusements, to the gracious hospitality and miles of beachfront, Old Orchard Beach promises classic beach fun for any age. One of the Maine beaches that originally served as a concert venue for 20s and 30s dance bands, Old Orchard Beach has now been a popular getaway spot for over 100 years, attracting thousands to its 7 miles of wide sandy beach, clear, blue, ocean, lively boardwalk, and amusement park by the sea. Located along Maine's scenic southwestern coast, Old Orchard Beach is highly family oriented, with plenty of activities to choose from to keep everyone in the clan entertained, regardless of age.

If you're visiting in the spring or fall, you can take advantage of the numerous golf courses within a 30 minute radius of the beach. If fishing is more your style, head for the ocean and nearby rivers for hours of fun. Of course, the arcades and amusement parks are open in the summer months for everyone to enjoy. Be sure to check out the roller coaster here, considered one of the top 5 in the country! The famous Old Orchard Pier is also a centerpiece here and, along with nightly entertainment and free concerts, the kids will love the weekly Thursday night fireworks in the summertime after a long day of sandcastles and sun.

When you're ready to dine, the choice between fine seafood restaurants and fast food is yours, and is plentiful. Once you've finished your meal, head over to the boutiques and art galleries to pick up some take-home souvenirs.

Old Orchard Beach has plenty of lodging choices available, from family style hotels and motels, to bed & breakfasts. There are even campgrounds available on the beach. If you're seeking more luxurious camping, head to Bayley's Camping Resort, which actually has pools and hot tubs for guests to relax in. Any way you slice it, Old Orchard promises a vacation to remember.
