Snorkeling off the Maine Coast Beaches
While scuba diving is a more popular activity than snorkeling in the Maine waters, some hardy folks do grab a wetsuit, mask and a snorkel and slip into the surf.
Extend your Maine Coast experience underwater, by starting your trip with a view of a famous lighthouse (for example – Boon Island Lighthouse or Nubble Light). Beauchamp Point near Camden is a popular dive spot. Get acquainted with the famous Maine lobster in their environment before dining on them or some of the other native sea creatures you may encounter.
Be aware that snorkeling sites may be difficult to get to and tides and commercial water activity play an important factor in planning your snorkeling adventure. And, make sure to bring your own snorkel gear.
